By the sea

Sitting in a quiet spot by the ever changing sea here in Cornwall I am in awe of its sheer force and strength. It crashes and spatters into white foam on huge black rocks below me, rising and falling in a powerful swell.
The sea represents the unknown by its vastness and great depth, it represents the infinite and our unconscious, our connection to the divine. Both formidable and nurturing and often perceived as feminine the sea brings purification, cleansing and, importantly, healing both physically and emotionally. As a powerful backdrop to meditation its rhythmic sounds can lower stress hormones and promote relaxation. Spiritually the sea helps us to release negative emotions. Wild, feminine, creator and destroyer, engaging with the sea gives us a deeper connection to the universal energies and to something far greater than ourselves.
